I came home from work not feeling well Friday and was ready to scrap appearing at the poetry reading. At about the last possible moment - I got myself up and selected two other poems form my portfolio to go with the new one I planned all along to read and headed out.
It went very well, and I was happy with myself in the end for carrying through with it. I read Vanishing Hope, Cerebral Cobwebsand the newest one I wrote, If Not.
I've worked on a new poem tonight. I want to do some reading yet this evening and perhaps catch the Giants game tonight on TV.

The week in review...and other trivial matters
It's Friday and it's been a week.
It came, it went. Well almost! I still have today to contend with.
From a writing standpoint, it was not what I would have liked. Am I disappointed? Not really. With Meghan's graduation I accepted the fact that the early part of the week was developing around the graduation, party, etc. It was important for her... well, all of us in the family ::warm smile:: so it had to take priority and it did. Have I mentioned I'm proud of her?
I thought I might squeeze out a little writing progress, but it has been damn little. Again, that is ok, my expectations were low so I get an A+ in being realistic.
I am planning to go to a poetry reading tonight to read. Sill have only one of my works selected for sure to read and would like to do two, maybe three. A successful reading tonight will point my compass north for the week ahead. A sort of rebound.
On another front, I have started to show signs of poison ivy today. (sigh) I was afraid I would get it from the yard work over the weekend, but surprised it has taken so long to show up. I don't think I can call the doctor for the pretizone I usually take, because it's really only a week to my surgery. (fingers crossed) I'll have to use topical stuff. Hopefully, since it has taken so long to materialize, it won't be a bad case.
Now, for the fun, I took a quiz this morning on what kind of "founding father" I was. God, sometimes I feel old enough to be one. Anyway the results follow.
Cathy (wife) has a color personality quiz for me to take as well. I need to do that when I have a moment today.
Well, that's about it for this morning... off to fight the war between good and evil, if I can just remember which side I'm on. ::grin::
The weekend was long and taxing (I'm including the Monday holiday in that... after all it was just one more day of cleaning for the party) and now it seems strange to realize the week is half over.
Yesterday was my youngest daughter's graduation from 8th grade and the after-party at our house was enjoyable. The kids let loose and there were some parents and teachers that came and it was well worth the effort. I was so proud of Meghan. She's worked hard. I really wish she didn't have a week remaining of school because I know she'd like to kick back after all that and take a long breath.
Tonight I have to return some overdue books to the library before the Library Cops come ::grin:: and hopefully write. I am totally off track. I also feel cut off from my Giants. I did see they ate on ESPN2 tonight so I could watch the late game even from the bedroom as opposed to the TV that I get the extra innings games on.
Well, I've had a busy morning at work already and this is enough of a break (catching up on my blog) So I guess that's it for now.
No writing Sunday - cleaned and did yard work. More of same today. Off work for Memorial Day. Showered and eaten breakfast - it's nearly 8AM and I'll start back on what's left of yard work then and move inside when that is finished.
