Saturday Nite

I took in the World Building class with Jim. I would have like to have been in of them from the begining. He says they will repeat them before long.

Took a "what kind of dragon are you?" test. I suppose we all need to know what kind of dragon we are... ::grin::

I am a A Song Dragon!

Hey, I took the http://dragonhame.com online Inner Dragon quiz and found out I am a Song Dragon on the inside.

In the war between good and evil, a Song Dragon tends to walk the fine line of Neutrality....
When it comes to the powers of Chaos vs. those of Law and Order, your inner dragon walks a fine line between Law and Chaos....
As far as magical tendancies, a Song Dragon's nature does not lend itself well to the ways of Magic....
During combat situations, whether by spells or by claw, your inner dragon will do whatever it takes to get the job done....
Song Dragons are semi-nomadic in nature. They do choose a general geographic region to live in, but move their nests frequently within their territory. They build their nests in remote areas, where they are secluded from outside disturbances.'
Song Dragons are a dull grey color to their scales, but are graceful and quick in movement. The most striking attribute of the Song Dragon is it's voice. Having several sets of vocal chords, the Dragon's every word reverberates like a string symphony.'
Song Dragons build their homes deep in seclusion, but in truth they are very social and friendly in nature. They will often be found polymorphed into human form and fraternizing with people in bars and public places. Song Dragons are the bards of dragonkind, they greatly value creative thinking and artistic talent. They live life to it's fullest, and are well known for going to extremes. They are also known for their good-hearted nature and kindness.

This Dragons favorite elements are: Jade, Music, and Happiness

Saturday Evening

Cleaning today. Wet vac carpet - have more of that to do tomorrow. Other misc. cleaning... need to go do a little more now in bedroom.

Tonight I am still planning on the World Building class at Forward Motion. That's it for now. Dull... because that's what cleaning is! LOL

Friday Morning

The week is winding down. Perhaps is is not quite as self-fulfilling as last week, but it is none the less one in which I made some progress and... quite frankly it is not over just yet.

I did make it to Home Depot last night. Will go back this evening, now that I think I know what exactly I need. This weekend will be one of cleaning and re-waterproofing the deck. All this in preporation of my youngest daughter's 8th grade graduation party which we are hosting next week.

I have completed a poem I'll likely read at the poetry reading I'm doing on the 30th. I may go back and select something from the past to go with it. I'd like to do two, maybe three this time.

There is a World Building class on Saturday night late. The one I mentioned earlier in the Forward Motion writing community. I'd very much like to do this in conjunction with my next new writing plan. Also, I need to get the administrative stuff I had on my planner to do this week for the Candlestic Project finished today or tomorrow.

The following is the newest poem... yes, it is a little on the dark side.

If Not

Of dreary day
No child’s play
And dreams held hostage to hopelessness
While all about us seems beyond
Little effort to fight
Change is not within the powers
That do not and are not

If this day shall pass
Will there be one of hope
And chance for redemption
Of lost time
And idle purpose

Can the scourge of life unlived
Experiences denied
Love unattained
Peace unfulfilled
Laughter shackled
Be recalled like some defective appliance
And purpose restored

If not is this hope that is not
All that is left
And will I know enough
To be sufficient
Such as I am

Long Night At School Meeting.... Big Sigh

No writing last night, Watched a little of Giants game after downloading a program on the computer. Would have been a great game to watch from beginning to end... starter Jason Schmidt went the distance in a 6-0 shutout. I think he gave up maybe only four hits.

Sinus acting up a little this morning - :( I didn't take any alergy medicine yesterday. Hopefully I get it undercontrol quickly as I have surgery reset for early June and I don't want to go through getting it put off again.

Need to make a Home Depot trip tonight and plan to write. I did spend a little more time thinking about dome detail planning for a novel last night. I think there is a "World Building" class on Forward Motion Firday or Saturday night. I need to check on it.

Well, time to get busy with work!

Afternoon Update...

Not so tired and draggy now. This is a good thing!

Halfway Point in the Week

I am feeling really draggy again today. (sigh)

Watched the Giants ball game last night and worked on a poem. Spent some time contemplating an idea for a novel. I'd say it was more than just contemplation, yet not heavy duty planning. Still, I find myself pulled in this direction so yet this week I may actually engage in some more heavy duty planning.

Have a meeting at my daughter's school tonight - don't know how late that will run but it will keep my evening somewhat tied up till late, no doubt.

I can't say this week is turning out as to be as good as last week, but then it isn't over yet so there is still time to make it a great week. That remains my goal. I need to get out of this tired draggy funk though!

Drained

I'm drained this morning.... Not sure why, but yesterday was a busy day. I didn't get any writing done, so today will be a day to catch up. I can do it. I just need to get my self in gear and perhaps a little caffeine.

Oh, I have another blong going - general thoughts and what-not on issues, events, etc. You can see it at: The Full Course

Monday Morning

The day... the week, it's all underway. I have a fair amount on my plate this week as far as not-writing stuff to do. I'm hoping for a good balance of success on both writing and not-writing fronts.

For the sake of fun... I took a quiz on writing this morning.

The results....

You are a freeform writer. Individualistic with a
sense for the different and challenging, Walt
Whitman and his poetry lacking meter and rhyme
is just what the doctor ordered. You're quick
to write something that the rest of the world
doesn't accept as poetry, quick to separate
yourself from the average joe. An author with a
true sense of self, you have confidence in your
abilities and aren't afraid to show it. :) GO

Surf'n the Writing Blogs

Every once and a while it's good to get out. That goes for the internet as well.

I've been trying to take in a few writing related blogs every day or so. It is nice to seem that others have struggles ( you know the misery loves company things I guess) but it is also nice to see successes and ideas and people who just won't and don't quit.

There are so many blogs out in the cyber space, but I have been trying to focus mostly on some of the ones associated with Forward Motion members for starters. I figure it is a good idea to get to know some of the people better that mke up this growing writing community. I'm finding that we have a whole lot of talent among the ranks.

On such enjoyable site is Confessions of a Post Graduate Pity Whore by Sarah Jane Elliott. Sarah is a winner of the Asimov Award for Science Fiction.

Well, this is my last post for today. Monday is coming & I'm shooting for another good week!

Post Mortem on Past Week

Well, in assessment on this past week, I’d have to say I am pleased with my overall writing work. I did relatively well at keeping focused on moving forward during the week. It may not have been perfect, but then we are dealing with an imperfect me... I think it is always good to keep that in mind when doing self-assessments.

I stayed pretty focused during the week at some basic objectives and I feel I did keep that focus for the most part. I allowed myself to have some enjoyment in addition to working hard and this is important.

Friday, I did receive a rejection letter from Slate magazine on The Texture of Love. This is my third rejection from Slate.Tough cookies! I have a lot of respect for them and I believe one day I will crack the threshold in Slate. It is becoming kind of a personal goal. With the right piece of work at the right time, it will happen!

Mood Indicator

I decided to add the mood indicator to my page, partly for fun and also because I think it is good to devote some focus to what kind of mood a person is in and what kind of mood patterns have developed over a period of time. Sometimes I think we can become oblivious to our moods and by actually taking ownership in my mood at times throughout the day and week, it forces me to think about what my mood actually is. I see this as a good thing; it will be worth looking at down the road and perhaps give me some fodder for essay at a later point.

Well, it’s mid day Sunday and I have done some pre-planning for this week. Organizing my stuff and hopefully will have an even better week then the one past. Hey, how’s that for being positive?
