Week in review
This past week was a very good week at work. I found myself very well organized and quite effective. To a large part, I was able to extend that to my after work hours as well. This weekend I centered my activities specifically in such a way that my expectations were tempered by planning to spend a good deal of time with my daughter Meghan. This worked well. I came out of the weekend with expectations that were largely meet, and further I can say that I am going into this next week with a good working plan for both my workday as well as after hour goals and objectives.
Tonight, I was saddened to learn of the death of NBC news journalist David Bloom. His reporting of the war in Iraq has been a mainstay of my news sources. His reporting was nothing short of extraordinary. No doubt millions of others have come to know him and his reports with the First Infantry Division. David brought the reality of the war into our living rooms. He brought something else as well. He brought integrity, dedication and a professionalism I never imagined could be delivered by a reporter embedded within a military unit.
From the first time I saw him atop the tank recovery unit he road on, I had an uneasy feeling about David’s safety. I worried about him the same way you would anyone in the war. I never dreamed that someone with such energy and passion for what they were doing would likely die of natural causes. This really beings home the frailty of life. His loss in my opinion is big.
