Success On Poetry Dare
It is certainly a good feeling to have successfully completed the poetry apprentice level dare in the Forward Motion Community. This two-month dare has kept me better focused. Thou I feel short on my second dare, total word count of all my writing, it was an excellent exercise in writing discipline.
There are no March dares, and I’ll have to assess participation in April against my overall yearly goals at that point. Now seems to be a very good point to assess my ongoing projects and prioritize my focus on them. I brief inventory of them would be as follows….
Candlestick Project – in progress
Novel – in progress
Poetry – numerous pieces ready for rewrite
McGinnity Bio – complete
Wine article – in concept stage

Hump Days
I always seem to take a liking to "Hump Days" and I'm not sure why. I suppose it could have something to do with that childish thing about saying things that seem a bit inappropriate, even if they aren't. I'd like to believe there is much more... something of substance to this. Like meat & potatoes...not some silly immature triviality.
Perhaps, it serves as a mid week checkpoint. I think Lighthouses are way cool. Wednesday or Hump Day is kind of like a Lighthouse. It lets you check your bearings... see how close or how far you have strayed from your planned course.
Tonight is my is my son's birthday... I won't get much writing done - but that is ok.... I know Thursday and Friday have to be big days... I will make my poetry dare this month!!! I'm close and it can be done.

Moving On Monday....
A re-write of my Joseph McGinnity biographical was completed yesterday. I have a couple of corrections to make from my proof read and it is e-mailed out tonight. This means that this week I can shift gears and focus on completing my Jan-Feb Poetry dare. I am truly within striking distance. My total word count goal for writing in general will not be reached... but one of the two goals met is a victory. Plue, I feel like this is a good start for the year.
I will focus on poetry and some "Candlestick Project" work this week. Try and get a submission or two off in the mail, and Work on my Giants Baseball web site.
As always, your comments are welcome at michael_wells@prodigy.net.
